Document Summary System - Basic Edition


5-1: Why is there a Basic Edition?

The Document Summary System - Basic Edition provides the ability to load and summarize one document at a time. This provides the user a solution if only a few documents need to be summarized with a very easy to use solution.

The basic document summarization techniques are the same in the Basic and Standard Editions.  The Web Downloads is not available with the Basic Edition.

5-2: What are the Summarization Settings in the Basic Edition?

The summarization settings in the Basic Edition are fixed at the normal settings that should be used for most documents, and cannot be changed. The settings are shown below.  For a more complete explanation of the settings see the descriptions in the Standard Edition information. 

	•	Number of sentences of Short Summary is 7 (Normal)
	•	Compression Ratio of Full Summary is 0.5 (Normal)
	•	Summary Bias towards Keywords and Query (0 - 1) is 0.65
	•	The code page is set to UTF-8.
	•	The Automatically Fix Line Breaks is always selected.
